HI! I’m Katie Standish

a Junior studying Marketing and Digital/Social Media Business Applications with a minor in Media and Creative Advertising at Indiana University. 

I was originally interested in marketing, but my perspective shifted upon joining the Ad Club at IU during my freshman year. It became clear to me that my true calling lay in the realm of advertising. Although I had initially contemplated a career in sales or in-house marketing, my passion for advertising and the creative aspects of marketing campaigns has propelled me to pursue advertising strategy. I decided to expand my degree and make the most of my education by adding a co-major in Digital/Social Media Business Applications and a minor in Media and Creative Advertising. This allows me to gain a broader understanding and a more comprehensive perspective on the advertising industry as a whole.

An aspect that truly intrigues me about the advertising industry and fuels my career aspirations is the enthusiasm shared by professionals in the field. I have been deeply inspired by the openness and willingness of individuals to engage in conversations with those aspiring to enter the industry. It is evident that people in advertising are genuinely passionate about their work and enjoy it. After all, isn't the ideal job one that provides a safe space to be authentic and have fun?

I am very interested in Creative Strategy and have experience in: Social Media, Canva, Video, Microsoft Applications, Student/Community Outreach, Live Events, Photography, and Marketing Campaigns (all gained through internships and campus involvements)
